About the artist
Brooklyn-NY based artist Lee Boroson is best known for large-scale immersive installations that use inflatables, fabric, and light to create phenomenological experiences for his viewers, based on the elemental forces in nature—from air, ice, fog, and smoke to fire and the cosmos. Museum installations include: Mass MoCA, North Adams, MA; Phillips Collection, Washington, DC; Tang Museum at Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY; Kansas City Art Institute; Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Ridgefield, CT; and Whitney Museum at Altria, New York, NY. Boroson has received numerous awards including grants from Pollock-Krasner Foundation, Gottlieb Foundation, Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation, and New York Foundation for the Arts. He has taught sculpture at Rhode Island School of Design, Maine College of Art, and Sarah Lawrence College. He received an MFA from Indiana University; BFA from State University of New York, New Paltz; and attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, ME.
